    can you tax an LVG as a private vehicle and if so will a DOE cover me?

    It will only be taxable as a private vehicle if it has been converted and has seats in the back,windows in the sides etc.

    That is incorrect. You can tax a commerical at the private rate even though the vehicle is still classed as a commercial vehicle.
