    Hey guys,

Myself and my boyfriend will be visiting Galway City for the first time early in the new year :)

We are both young and enjoy the odd drink and have a bit of a dance. Would be really interested in hearing from anyone who could recommend anywhere good to go on a Friday or Saturday night...

Particularly interested in hearing from students or past students...thanks a mill guys :)

Just head down to Shop Street, that's where all the action is.
Walk around and try a few pubs, then head to a late bar or a disco.

The usual path I suggest for newbs would be King's Head and then Halo, if you're very young then maybe CPs.

Others will have more suggestions I'm sure.
    Enjoy.

Are ye tourists visiting Ireland? If so you may as well stick to some more 'Irish' pubs like Monroes or Taaffes.

What sort of music do you like? If you want a live band then King's Head or the Quays are good. If it's just a DJ you're after then the Front Door or any of the nightclubs will do for chart stuff. Places like the Blue Note and Roisin Dubh for more specialised stuff.

No we are just heading down from Dublin. Would be looking for maybe a pub with live music for a few pints and then maybe a nightclub after.

    Thanks for the suggestions :)

Avoid CPs! You will feel old if you go in there, no joke. I'm 22 and my advice is go to Quay Street :) the Front Door, Buskers, the Quays, and the Dail bar are my favourites.

A 22 year old feeling old in a nightclub? Get over yourself. CPs is full of 17-23 year olds and there's usually no differentiating between them.

I used to like the Front Door as it was a nice change but can't stand the place now. Wedged isn't the word. There's barely enough room to lift a cigarette to your mouth in the smoking area and likewise with a drink inside. Less said about the bouncers there the better.

Yep Front Door is over full every Friday and Saturday alright. The Dail, Kings Head, Kellys, Karma and Halo might suit ye best id say.

Kings head is probably your best bet for live music and few pints. Quays have a band fri nights and the spanish arch have a really good band on Sat nights but bit of an older crowd. well worth popping in for a pint or two though and everywhere is within 5min walk of each other.

There's one nightclub for over 21s (I think) Halo which is you run of the mill club playing chart. Your best bet is upstairs in Monroes which again has live music and open 11-2. I'm mid20s and personally, I like to find a pub with a good band and a late bar and stay put for the night!:D

    Enjoy your weekend:)

True; but 22 and in CP's is shocking. I was in there only a month ago on a Friday and I was easily the oldest man there. Mates are bouncers there and to their humour re-iterated this point.I'm 23 btw.

There are no clubs...as understood in civilised countries...in Galway.

    There are, however, late bars.
