Not exactly, but you can record onto an external hard drive with features like time-shift.

Pretty much all receivers work with external hard drives once they have USB.

A Freeview HD+ box should give you pause, rewind and record functionality, but I'm not sure about series link issues etc.

I have the Sony 500 HDT Freeview recorder (hard drive only no DVD) and it has pause/rewind/twin tuner recording but so far only series link recording with Freeview not Saorview. Also problems recording both Freeview and Saorview via a timer but can manually record both at same time and can timer record 2 Saorview channels at same time. Problem seems to be with a mix of both when using the epg. Otherwise this is a good box to record Saorview from.

Freeview as this is a Freeview HD recorder which picks up both Freeview and Saorview.

I didn't think you could pick that up in most of Ireland.

I live in NI hence Freeview although no Freeview HD here until DSO next year but I also get a very good signal from Clermont Carn (just across the border) - my analogue for ROI channels is crystal clear and Saorview is break up free so far. BTW Freeview is available among much of border counties in ROI and along eastern seaboard where it is possible to pick up decent signal from Wales.Other threads on these boards will confirm this.
