Advice on buying a 42' Plasma

    Hi,

Looking to buy a 42' TV, most likely a plasma. Trying to choose one is proving very difficult with the selection these days.

Spotted this Panasonic on pixmania http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/9603938/art/panasonic/tx-pf42g30-plasma-screen.html

Seems to have good reviews etc, although a few issues have been highlighted.
Apparently it's handling of 50hz input is slightly off and previous Panasonic's have had trouble with Saorview compatibility

Does anyone here have a G30 and is able to offer feedback on Saorview support?

How is Pixmania's after sales service these days with returns etc? Vaguely remember hearing horror stories a few years ago..

Also is there any other Plasma/LED TVs anyone can recommend? Budget is €550 - €700

    Thanks

    I had BAD experiences.

Also, plasma is heavy on electricty... would you not think of spending a little more and going for LED - save in the long run

I got a Panasonic G20 about 18 months ago, Although it doesn't officially support Saorview, I've never had an issue receiving it.

I'd recommend a Panasonic Plasma any day. Picture quality is superb compared to LCD in my opinion. In terms of power usage as jameshayes mentioned, it could be the case but I've never noticed it. If its something your concerned about they all list their power usage.

I got mine from Richersounds.ie (check out their forum here). Got delivery and 5 year warranty as well so would recommend them. Problem with Pixmania is if you have a problem you may need to return to them which could cost a lot P&P.

Thanks for the info. Will ask richersounds for a quote. Probably the only electrical retailer left with staff that know their tech stuff.

Still miss their old dublin shop..

Is there any other 40'-42' tvs worth considering?
