How bad is it to squat on a smith machine? Is it VERY likely to cause injury?

    Is it your only option?

It's not really ever an option.

Basically I have a gym in work that has a smith. I'm also in another gym with a proper squat rack etc but been too busy to get to it lately. So is squatting on the smith better than not squatting at all?

Do you have DBs big enough to use for DB or Goblet squats?

Otherwise just leave the squats to days where you can use a rack.

DB's only go to 35kg so not really big enough for goblets. I'll try it though

Do you have access to a leg press even?

No not in the gym in work. I just tried some squats on the smith today and they felt awful so I did goblets for high reps instead

walking lunges,Reverse lunges, step ups, bulgarian split squats and single leg deadlift are all options with the dumbbells.

Knee drops and one legged squat to box are other options and you won't need any weight starting off.

Just program other stuff around work gym days.
Squat on the days you are at the other gym, or rather make sure to get to the other gym on days you are supposed to squat
