tax out of date

    my tax expired at the end of November and I just renewed it online. it will however take a while for it to be sent out to my address. what is my status? can I tell the guard the tax disc is the post?

    Realisticly yes, you are ok. Carry the printout reciept to make the explanation easier. Most gardai accept simple, honest reasons for not displaying your tax and would at worst ask you to call to your local station when you get it to show that you have renewed it.

    You have a month to apply / pay for the next disc, I think it's written as such on the letter they send you, 'pay before end of December'.

    Typically your disc will need to be over one month out of date before the guards will make a big deal of it.
