Right, I'm getting an Asus Transformer. Just looking for a tiny bit of advice!

Right, I'm getting a christmas present for someone and decided on the Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101
Not getting the dock or keyboard, just the tablet.

My question is, is that a decent one for that money, or is there some amazing one I'm missing out on?
Other question was (if you own one), does the display look nice and sharp, and is the touchscreen good and responsive? I did a search and a couple said the display was great, but might as well ask again!
I know I can go to the shops and look, but I don't have the time.

Well it'd be one of the better android tabs for sure but for me it's the keyboard that sets it apart! the screen is good a lot better than most tabs bar the sammy.

Be prepared for it to be IMMEDIATELY out of date in January with the release of it's far superior sequel ;-)

Yeah, the keyboard is handy alright, but stretching the budget as it is. If she wants the keyboard, she can get it herself! At least she has the option of it.
Not to worried about a better one coming out in Jan, I want it for christmas, so unless there's a more modern better competitor for a similar price out now, I can sleep easily. Well, easily enough!
Nice display is important for that "wow" factor when it's opened.

I'd say right now if you want to get the snazziest looking android pad you hav a straight choice between the transformer, the galaxy and the sony s. For me the clear winner is the Transformer but even that's already starting to look obsolete with the Prime coming out.

The Transformer is a lovely tablet and looks great. Comparisons with the Prime are irrelevant in your case as it won't be available here until 2012.

    Go for it!

I have one of these, and I love it. Only complaint I'd have is that typing on the touchscreen is a complete PITA. The predictive text is hopeless, and I have yet to type a coherent paragraph of any length without having to go back and do about a million edits (and I'm a good typist!). So if she's going to be using it for WP/e-mails a lot, she'll need the keyboard. For surfing the internet/reading purposes, it's great. Mine also shuts down IE with no warning on a fairly frequent basis, which is irritating. Can't seem to find a cover/protector for it - I've had to make a bubble-wrap bag for it while I'm hunting for something a bit more sensible!Never used any other tablet, so I can't compare, but despite the above glitches, I'm very happy with mine.

I got this cover. It's perfect.

You should try alternative keyboards - Hacker's Keyboard might suit.

Swiftkey tablet X has fantastic text prediction but I agree that typing anything of any length on a touchscreen is a pain.

Cheers for the info. So basically, it's about the best for that money, if I want the sony or samsung it's more expensive.

Yeah, that's it, can't give a christmas present in feburary or march!
