Corroded Brass Fitting replaced with brass fitting?

    Hi Folks,

bought a new house recently. The house is approx. 30 yrs old, with a shed added 10 yrs ago. Major underground leak which I assumed was due to the past winters freezing etc. Upon digging down I seen that a T was taken off the mains using a brass fitting, to go to the shed.
The plumber was a professional and charged me accordingly. He fixed the leak by replacing the brass fitting. Afterwards I noticed the old fitting and seen the corrosion. I asked him and he verified.
Now I live in the house and I notice the water very very limey. Its white.
Neighbours tell me that's normal around here. I am on a group water scheme.
But now, thinking back, I suppose it was the limey water which caused the corrosion.
But the plumber replaced a corroded brass fitting with a similar one.
Is it not likely the same thing will happen? How long might it take to corrode? Or am I missing something?
Now there is tarmac over it so there is not much I can do about it but I wanted your opinions.

    Thanks

    Eamon

Its not the water that usually corrodes the fitting its the cement if the fitting is not covered. If you can dig it easy just did it up and wrap denso tape around it.

tbh my father buried loads of pipes for sheds and wrapped the fittings with a roll of duct tape. several times. He never had any trouble. That was at least 20 years ago.

as for exposed brass. Depending on the amount of lime mix in the cement. The fitting might last years so dont worry.
