Great piece of kit for the money, just bought 2 last night, has learning function so should work if you can't find code for ferguson. Already had one working with tv, dvd player, sky box & walker saorview box

Were you able to turn on and off both TV and STB with a single button press?

Not exactly, you have to select 'tv' to control it then select whatever button you programmed the stb on to control that

OK, I thought there was a macro function on this unit which would enable you do this. Not for me then. Thanks for the post anyway.

It has a setting that allows you to turn all programmed devices on and off at the same time.
I think you keep the power button pressed down for 5 seconds or something.

What annoys me is that I have to then select the TV and switch to HDMI for the my STB and then switch to the STB to control the STB.
I think it's your TV that controls whether it will automatically switch to HDMI though. If you're lucky enough to have one of those TVs then this is a good remote.

I got one of these when they were on sale last. They're pretty useless, feel bad in the hand, and you have to change batteries really quick otherwise all your settings will be lost (pain in the ass if you've "learned" a device one key at a time).

You're much better off putting the money towards a harmony if the reason you would purchase one of these is because of the cheap price. You can get a Harmony 300 for around 26euro. Much easier set-up with a wider range of supported devices, feels great in the hand, has way better button layout and has a much more powerful emitter.

You must have got a dud:D. I have one of them for the past few years. What I have learned about it is, you have to be PATIENT. There are a cartfull of keys and menus to be learned and it is a lengthy business. What I found was if you could arrange the recording function to mimic your Sky remote if you have Sky. The same goes for any of the FTA recorders & Combos. The rest is a bit easier, but you have to take care to remember what keys work the more obscure functions. You would have to write down some of them. Just my 2 cents.

Have to disagree, been using one regularly for 4 devices, no battery change yet so don't know about that aspect but has been easy to set up

I bought one and find it quite good, certainly preferable to using three remotes.
The only problem I have is with the learn sequence, none of the buttons seem to work with this. I'm trying to work a Technika DVBT HD box and none of the codes will operate it.

The "learn" function and the use of codes are two different things. I suggest you read the manual again

I read the manual. What I'm saying is, I exhausted all the Technika codes listed in the manual but the learn function won't work with any of the appliance buttons on the remote control. The manual says if this happens then that particular button can't be "taught".

So after all that....... what is the code for the Ferguson Ariva 120? None of the listed ones works for me. I know haow to 'learn' it but it's a pain.

    Tks.

Having started this thread looking for some positive info, I decided to buy one of these. In fact, I bought two; the first packed in after two days. It froze with no response from any of the buttons and having removed the batteries in the hope it would reset itself, it failed. However, good old Lidl replaced it without quibble.

I now have the second one up and running, controlling an LG TV and a Ferguson Ariva 120.

Setting up was a bit tedious and time consuming, mainly because I couldn't find a code for the Ferguson and I had a similar problem with the LG. I did find a code here that enabled most of the buttons and I then learned the rest. In the case of the Ferguson, I had to learn them all and also had to adopt other buttons to operate other functions, ie USB/PVR etc.

I then set up one Macro to bring me into MHEG 5 teletext on the LG and straight into the Lotto results page.

So, in my case anway, its working to my satisfaction with my particular applications. It may not work for everone (depending on your particular applications) so buyer beware.

Must have a look around the limerick ones for this.

I bought one a few days ago. Very impressed with the look and feel of it.Very professional looking and does not look cheap. It's made in Germany and the packing + two glossy instruction booklets are the business.
I tested it on my cd player and most functions worked immediately after inserting code. However I had to teach it to operate the "Random Selection" key(by placing the two remotes facing each other) and even though it informed me (in the lcd display) that I had been successful,it refuses to operate the "random" function when I press the key I have selected.I selected different keys but still no success. It needs time to unlock it's secrets

Bought one a few months ago, could not get it to work with a UPC HD box, waste of money IMO.

I've finally mastered this or rather it has allowed me to glimpse it's inner secrets and it now operates my cd and amp perfectly. It's not the most sensitive of remotes when it's learning and I found that I had to repeat the key presses to get it to work. It won't necessarily accept the key you want to instruct it to use for a specific function but by going through the 0 to 9 keys it will always accept one eventually. You need patience and familiarity with it and it does work quickly with familiarity. It's not the thing that you would give to an elderly aunt for Christmas but the end result is that I'm delighted with it. Now to get another one(if still available) and get it to do the really heavy lifting in the tv room with it's tv ,amp, dvd player, two blu ray players, Sky HD and Ariva Sat box and hopefully eliminate all their remotes. This is fun for a few bob
I like a challenge in life;)

Yes, I agree. Setting up is very time consuming but when you have mastered it, it's very satisfying. Macro was the most difficult. Trying to understand the manual here was a problem for me; a bit ambiguous at the start until you came to terms with the formula. However, writing one macro string after another and tweeking the pause times between events, achieves the desired results. Important thing here is to save your formula for future use. Setting up then will be childs play.

Got it yesterday, very happy with it. Was able to use it to control my htpc software (by learning from another cheap chinese remote) and to control sky+ hd.

One minor thing, which i'll probably change manually, is the + functions on the remote are the blue red green yellow buttons, so don't work out of the box with the sky hd code. Think i'll ignore the colours and make them for playback.

For upc, did you not just manually program them?

My impatience is legendary, if the codes don't work straight off I couldn't be arsed spending any time programming buttons individually, some enjoy the challenge, I spontaneously combust. So yes, my own disinterest is partly to blame.
