Good Mornings are breaking my back !

Any idea what I am doing wrong ? My lower back aches like hell after a set of these.
I stand legs shoulder width apart, legs straight and then bend forward at the hips keeping my back straight as possible with a DB rather hanging or close to chest. But I really feel this on my lower back as if I have hurt it and I didn't think I should.

Perhaps I am mixing lower back DOM's with back ache ?

    Thanks in advance

You could have tight hips or be doing them wrong or maybe some other bad thing going on.

Possibly you shouldn't be doing them right now.
If something hurts a lot, its often good to not do them.

    As was said above.

If somethings hurts don't do it.

No exercise is worth an injury - if it does not work for you find something similar that does.

Sounds like your doing them wrong. I've never done them with legs locked straight or with a dumbbell. Either way it's not the type of movement I'd do unless I was sure about them.

And lower back DOMS are the only type that I ever feel like it's an actual injury, so it could be, no one here can tell you though.

Definitely dont do any exercise that hurts. try it with just an empty bar with your knees slighty bent, keep your arse back behind your feet and your weight evenly spread through your feet.
If that doesnt feel ok with no weight on the bar Id drop it and find something that suits you, not every exercise is for everyone.
If it does feel ok keep the reps high and the weight low hopefully thatll help

Switch them for back bridges, far safer and more effective exercise than good mornings.
