    Hi Folks,

My son (who is 4) is mad for art. But he's not into colouring or painting. He's more into 'big' art. For example a laundry basket of clothes 'mammy lets make a picture' he will take all the blue & white clothes out (cos they're the sky) and place them on the floor and then he will 'create' a picture from clothes all over my kitchen floo r:rolleyes: in fairness to anyone walking in, its a messy pile of clothes strewn all over the floor, but I can see what he's doing. When I'm painting a room, he just loves to 'throw' paint at the wall and 'lets see what happens mammy' ...He likes trying to 'make' things out of anything. neither myself or his dad are particularly creative or artistic.so we are not sure what we should be doing (apart from resigning ourselves to 'laundry pictures'. !! He has an easel, he has a blackboard, but as I said colouring and painting a picture just don't seem to hold his interest. Like most 4 year olds he has a wonderful imagination, and although I'm biased, I would say he has a very high grasp of language skills (Mammy at holloween the ghostly shadows dance on my walls ! ) I really want to try and foster this for him, I don't want to cut it off. ( as happens for a lot of kids.) can anyone give me some inspiration please. Thanks for reading
    Eamor xx
EDIT : He loves looking at art and scultpure online with me, (as well as spongebob and the rest!!).. We were talking about santa presents tonight and I asked him if he would like a chef's outfit (he likes to help me cook) and he said he wants an artists outfit!

It seems lke he is into placing things as opposed to direct markmaking with a pencil or brush right?

How about coloured sand to make a picture. You can use it dry and its reusable - or if you paint glue on a card you can get him to pour/ sprinkle on the coloured sand and it will stick to the glue.

Also get lots of coloured crepe or tissue paper for collage. Crepe paper is just like fabric.
