-7 on his round 10 under in total, one shot ahead of Choi. Hes hitting the ball well, and has confidence back on the greens by looks of things to.

Have to admit, I'd forgotten how much fun it is to watch Tiger when he's playing like this... Would love to see him and McIlroy close out their respective tournaments this weekend...

While its great to see Tiger "back", is anyone else sick listening to Mark Roe go on about him on Sky ?
I thought his remark yesterday that all tournament wins in the last few years by other players are slightly devalued because Tiger wasn't playing well was insulting to all pros out there on the tours and to the great players of the past -are their majors lesser because Tiger wasn't around ?

I don't think slightly devalues is an outrageous comment. That the greatest player ever who should have been coming into his prime went into meltdown because of personal problems and injury in my opinion slightly devalues winning majors in that time period.

Did woods just touch the hazard on 16 with a practice swing

How slow is the final pairing?
They are on the 16th fairway at the moment with the group ahead of them finishing up on the 18th. Pretty chronic really.

Back up to top 20 in world... how come so many points for an invitational??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Great finish to birdie the last two to win.
It's going to be a fun 2012 and looking forward to the fight for Worlds No.1 between Rory, Lee, Luke and more than likely Tiger towards the end of the year.

It's nonsense that there are any WR points for either this event or the Nedbank at Sun City. How can you equate a Top 10 in either of these events with a Top 10 in a full field tournament? Also, Tiger climbs around 30 places in the rankings for winning an event with 18 players in the field. How ridiculous is that? These end of season exhibition events are all well and good but they shouldn't be allowed to influence the world rankings.

    +1

Not sure if he will dominate like he did but he will be no 1 by the end of 2012

Difficult to gather anything useful from such a limited field of players. His birdie, birdie finish was very impressive, but his overall score was 6 shots worse than his tie for the lead last year, and he didn't exactly power on in 2011 after that. No doubt the win will give him some confidence, but I'll wait until he wins a tournament with more players than holes on the course before getting too excited about predictions for 2012 and beyond.

I take your point. I just think this is the start of the new tiger and things to come.
Sure we'll see. Time will tell.

Yes the system is the same but nobody should move up 20 places in the World Rankings due to an invitational event which is laughingly called a "World Challenge".........there were 4 non-USA players in a field of 18.
