I pick up - but free delivery on orders over €50 and flat rate next day for €7 countrywide, €5 Dublin.

A Cyclone Micro 2+ for €39 isn't a bad deal to pad it out for free delivery:

Just on the Micro 2+... My friend got one and complains of sound sync issues with the picture... so maybe look up reviews to see if this is common... because on paper it looks like a good media player!

Good price for the Cyclone. I've never had any sound sync issues.
Edit: didn't see the delivery prices. Can be bought cheaper elsewhere. I got mine off Amazon for about €43.

I paid £37 (Envisage, with delivery) in January for the Micro 2 - super kit, plays every format thrown at it and with bus powered usb or large flash drive very portable for holiday/hotel travel.

A couple of Amazon reviews for the Micro 2+ complain of sync - the rest tend to be very positive:

The remote is pants beyond 6-8ft, the narrow funnel can be improved if the unit itself is placed on some reflective surface (eg. "piano finish" or polished dvd player, shaving mirror :))

Another €11 spent on the site takes you over the €50 for free delivery!

great value for verbatim dl, they work out at 1e each, thanks op

for those that are looking to collect, it is a tiny depot in a residential area so hard to spot when driving, it is at the very start (or end depending on which way you are coming from) of cappagh road, there is only a small sign that points you to the back of a lane

Any idea when this offer ends? The DL's are great value.

That reminds me, Harvey Norman are presently doing 60 Philips DVD+R's (50 +10 free), also Eur12. Might suit someone who already has the markers and just needs discs :D

Verbs are gone to pot, find out if these are outsourced (like most of their Media is now) to China or India, I've given up on them as a good Brand after countless Coasters in the last 2 50 Disc Tubs I've bought.

If you find some still made in Japan then snap them up otherwise Taiyo Yuben is the only Brand worth buying.

You wouldnt know where the cheapest place to get Taiyo's would be?

Taiyo partnered up with JVC in 2008 to help with Worldwide distribution so best to look for JVC in Europe.

They come under few other brands aswell that most people wouldn't give a second look to.

I get mine in the states.

Has anyone collected a delivery from Justmedia? I did a search of their address on Google maps & it shows a residential house in Finglas with no business signs on the outside.

Made in Japan most likely *is* Taiyo Yuden. ;) Not made anywhere else.

The JVC CDs and DVDs in Power City at the moment are all Taiyo Yuden. Lovely dark blue dye on them. If you're clueless, just make sure the place of manufacture is Japan.

Verbatim are quite probably Moser Baer (India). Flex them ever so slightly and the top and bottom fly apart..

Flexin' away here Amalgam ... they ain't budgin' ... must have bought myself some dud good ones by accident

I Respect your right to enthuse over Yuden as you have for years here, they are the finest retail discs available no doubt ... but putting out old/new wives' tales about discs you don't use is BS.

I'm a heavy user of Verbatim for years as they were commonly regarded as the good value second best (ie. archival quality) disc after Yuden. I get one coaster in approx every 150 discs, a rate that's stayed (surprisingly) uniform as production has shifted from Singapore to the UAE to India.

Mitsubishi licence the AZO technology alongside the "outsourced" norm of production and have a huge interest in maintaining quality control given the consequences for brand reputational damage. If marked geographic failure differences - nevermind splitting - existed beyond anecdotal forum posts, Verbatim would already be toast.

Amalgam, as a matter of interest do those power city JVC's show up in DVD Identifier etc. as definitively Taiyo Yuden? I'd understood it was a "hybrid" venture with JVC ... the supply is very low and only in a couple of stores.

I have used Moser Baer and avoided them since, through experience styron. Cheers.

The DVDs don't suffer from the flexing issue, but the audio CDs most definitely do, wafer thin.

I use.. 'dodgy media' for everyday use and stuff that's not going to be used much past a certain moment, but if I want something to be okay after a few years of being stored away, in favourable conditions, I will dig out the TY.

Horses for courses, as they say.

    ---

I'll check about the media. I know what you're getting at, there was\is an attempt at TY to go along through budget channels, that's life. No brand is safe, seemingly.

If they still come on that threaded spindle with a handle (rather than in a tub) you'll have a stingey implausible Xmas present as a left over too :D

Just Flex tested the CD-R, stayed intact ... apart from a small crack in the centre clear plastic from my efforts ... thanks a bunch ;)

If you're confessing, I have to admit to being a bit of a disc slut at times too, in weaker moments I've even let the odd Ritec into my drives.

Yuden is like the search for the Rings/Holy Grail ... the Kaiser Soze of discs. Many out there disguised as ordinary verbatim, sony, jvc etc. A legitimate premium price on quality grounds, becomes a "CDFreaks" fetish item: inflating price, creates a market for counterfeiters - reliability of supply issues ... another premium .... a vicious circle exacerbated by chronic under supply.

Even from a "good" source, the price range is baffling:

Rant over ... need to lie down in a darkened room :pac:

I've gone through an Indian made Verbatim 100 DVD pack in the past year and never had any coasters. I enable verification after I burn to make sure it's 100%. Flexing one right now & it's holding up solidly! :)

Btw, Aldi's own-brand DVD+RW discs are the worst I have - they burn okay but are easily scratched.

Ha ha, yep, a spindle with small blue handle, but got this lot for myself so won't be hearing any complaints :) Have an almost empty cd tub here that I can put them in anyways :D
