    Got all the gear...morning off tomorrow to do the brew....just noticed that I forget to get a hydrometer....anyone know of a walk in shop in the greater Dublin area where I could pick one up.....tried the chap in Rathmines but he is sold out....help!!!

    You don't really need it until a couple of weeks in when you're checking if fermentation has finished. The only disadvantage of starting without is you won't know how strong your beer is.

    All you need to do is take a sample of your Wort "before" you add the yeast. Store it in the fridge. Then when you do get your Hydrometer you can take your OG reading.
