I am a member of the gym in Douglas Mills, has plenty of free weights, a reasonable cardio selection and the usual machines. Instructors are very knowledgeable and nice to approach for questions. It also opens at 6am Mon-Fri which suits me down to my toes

Back in the day when I used to lift (lazy now!) Fitton street in town was the place to go - has a very good free weights section. Leisureworld has all you need and is pay as you go. Not sure what area you live or whether you perfer cadrio to lifting or a combo of both but there's a good peppering of gyms around the place

Im no gym rat myself so others more versed may offer better guidance

Bumping this to ask the question again...

    Best gym in Cork City?

I'll narrow it down a little - I'm looking for something that is on or close to my walk to/from work. Blackpool to Lough area of the city.

I know myself, I won't use the Mardyke if I get membership. I'll find excuses not to go, so I'm looking more at the Maldron and the Metropole. Anyone have experience of either? Busy, clean, equipment, etc?

I'll be going for a combination of cardio and weights, mainly for fat loss. Nothing extreme at first anyway, would just need to be able to pop in after work 3 times a week to get a bit of work done.

For anyone looking for a cheap option or is based out near the Airport, Cork Airport Hotel have 12 month memberships for €199.
