Catholic Baptism: Order of Service

I just booked my daughter's Christening for the end of January and I gave the lady all the details and money she simply said thats booked for that date now. For some reason I expected a meeting with a priest before the day to discuss the order of serviceprayers or anything else that needed to be discussed. Is it normal to just to turn up on the day? I have been Baptisms before many of which had family members saying prayers of the faithful which I would like also. Therefore I assumed the day had been discussed beforehand. Would anyone be able to give me a quick run through of the order of service and whether such prayers are usually possible. I'm a little lost, as I'm a worrier and would like to have at least a rough idea of what is going to happen on the day.

I think you have been unfortunate. Your experience sounds unusual to me (and I hope it is unusual). In most parishes you will meet the priest and/or a baptismal preparation team from the parish at least once before the baptism.

You can always contact the parish and say that you’d like to meet the priest to discuss your daughter’s baptism. No priest should refuse such a request.

It’s not much to go on, but I found this on the web: http://www.nowraparish.org.au/files/doc_download/32-rite-of-baptism-one-child

It’s a rite of baptism as celebrated in one particular parish. There are a couple of choices to be made in putting together a baptism liturgy, so your liturgy may not look exactly like this. (In particular, different scripture readings might be chosen.) But it will look broadly like this.

No its not unusual, had the same experience with 8 kids and 2 grankids. The service is fairly informal and usually organized 'on the spot' unless its happening during mass.
