im not too knowlegable on how the club system works

is it like this theres a league and a championship

    the league has promotion relagtions

the championship is basically a knockout cup open to all teams in the county and the winners of the county will then compete in the provincial championships then all ireland

our is the league basically the championship of the county im confused how club football works

Basically the league is relegation and promotion, like the premier league etc.

For the championship, it's like the FA cup, and it's done by rounds. I'm pretty sure it's drawn so that teams in division A etc, don't meet too early. Then the winners of the County championship goes on to compete in the Provincial championship, with the winners of that competing in the All-Ireland championship.

That's for Senior anyways. With the rest it tends to be a case of just a championship for each division.

Depends on the county I think.
In Meath football, there are 6 separate championships: Senior, Intermediate and Junior A through D. Most teams would have at least 2 (perhaps 3) teams competing in these championships (ie one competing in the Senior championship and another in the Junior championship). They have a league sysytem and then the top few teams go through to the quarter finals and so on. The winner of each championship gets promoted to the next championship up, while the worst team gets relegated.

In the league, there are 5 divisions where the first team of every club team compete (from senior all the way down). 2 teams go up and 2 go down so you could conceivably have a Junior team playing in the same division as a senior team (I remember my club, who are Junior A, were playing in division 2 with a few senior teams up until recently). There are 12 teams in divisions 1-4 and 5 in division 5. Only one team from each club competes in the A league. There's a separate B league system for club's second and third teams.

That's how Meath football works anyway. Hurling is similar but only has 4 championships. Other counties operate differently.
