So I've asked out a girl I've known a few years for a few drinks and she said yes! She works in a bar I frequent and all I know of her is from small chit chat and facebook.

Anyone any ideas for the date? I want to get a few drinks in and really talk a bit, get to know her a bit more. Maybe drinks and a walk around town (dublin)?

Thing is she lives outside of dublin.

Dinner is a bit formal and cinema, while deflecting attention and helping me calm down a bit, seems too much since we wouldn't be able to talk...

Getting nervous since I've never really done this too often

    We're early/mid twenties.

If ye both drink, try just going for a friendly drink like you said.

    DON'T GO TO THE CINEMA

Be very careful with drink. It is easy to have too much and make an idiot of yourself. It can be difficult to make conversation walking around a city. Think about going to an exhibition, theatre etc.

    Comedy club :)
There's a place on Eden Quay but there are others
If she lives outside Dublin, well she has the bus, luas, train and car parks around Eden Quay to get home afterwards so no excuses

If you're around for the daytime I'd suggest the Guinness Store House, it's very good and will take up some time
And then there is a sushi place down by the Half-penny bridge so a short walk. It's not a formal dinner, just something light
And there is a bar nearby which has cocktails.
All one little area but that's for later on, maybe not first date

Read Post Two, do not take her to the cinema

    Hi Elessar

PI is a forum for people to post about an issue they are experiencing in their personal life in order that other posters may offer some advice - for general socialising/dating ideas you'd be better off browsing the Rec category/googling for ideas or posting in your local regional forum.

    All the best.
