My insurance is up for renewal on 20/12/11, but I hope to sell my car mid January as im leaving the country.
Im just wondering is it possible to insure my car for a month? I pay monthly installments at the moment but last year I had to pay for 3 months at the start of my policy.

You'll have to pay and then cancel/pause as far as I know.

You will probably have to do the same this year, by getting full years policy.
Then when you don't need it, just cancel the policy. As it will be consecutive year with the same company, most likely they won't be any cancellation charges, and they will refund you, so that like you paid only for a period which you were covered.
But you need to check at your policy what are the cancellation policy, as this might differ between insurers.

Renew your policy and hand over a cancellation notice just before 14 days after renewal date. If you didn't involve any accident and they should refund you %100 that way.

Or cancel it last day before moving and get 80-90% of what you paid.
