    Hey all,

I am currently using my HTPC to access my network
shared media from my server with MC7 and Media Browser as my frontends.

The latest Media Browser is proving very buggy and freezes quiet alot,
therefore i would like to change my options.

I have installed xbmc and it is super quick and very slick. I also have a
DDT usb stick for Saoview and Huappuage DVB-S2 card for freesat in my HTPC
also. Is there any way to integrate these into xbmc (or similar alternatves)
the same way as Media Center etc?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Have you tried MediaPortal ?

It supports multiple tuners , I cancelled Sky long ago , and use my HTPC for all my tv needs (Both DVB-S2 and DVB-T), as well as all my ripped movies and tv series box sets .

The StreamedMP skin combined with the Moving Pictures plugin as well as the MyTVSeries plugin looks amazing .

Out of curiosity why not Just use Win7 mediacenter? I use it for saorview and FTA and find it the best media center app out there by miles when it comes to TV and media playback?

I have messed around with it all for the last year and the best solution for me (had to be somewhat wife friendly) was Windows 7 Media Center.

I use dvblink to organise the tuners, epg and lineup, then have a couple of w7mc pc's connected to that. I find it's very simple to use and once dvblink is setup it all just works. Dvblink also streams to iphone, ipad and web browser nicely.

Pause, rewind, record and playback are all very easy. The only quirk for me is the series link tends to record too many repeats. Not a problem for me as I have plenty of hard drive space.

For downloaded mkv's I prefer to switch to xbmc but not much of a hassle to switch.

Use the Openelec XBMC PVR build and you'll get an all in one.
And if you just want to test it out, you can run it off a usb stick or sd card

    Thank everyone, first of.

I have been looking at this arseways. mc7 will do fine for dtt and freesat, if it ain't broke etc etc.

Now as for XBMC, sets up easy, looks great and runs smooth. But I am having serious trouble getting it to recognise my movie XML info files. It searches online via IMDB etc. But, I want it to use the XML files I have already stored on my server (lack of broadband being the reason).

Am I missing something obvious here? I have followed the xbmc wiki, guides etc but still no joy. Any help would be welcomed.

Im old school and hate all that metadata and poster art shannigans. Movie name, scroll to it and press play. Sorted. People put way to much effort into fluff.

So ehh no, no idea about the XML's

XBMC will read .nfo's perfectly, does for me. Not sure about .xml

Ok so tried to convert all my. XML files to. info files. But xbmc still does not recognise the files so I am making do with navigating to the file instead and just playing it etc. Works a treat. Also installed the WOL plugin. Excellent for waking my file server for media shares etc. Have read about a script the will send magic packets once xbmc is started. But overall this is much smoother than media browser.
