So, my car's engine light is on. Had trouble getting it started a couple of weeks ago and had to get the AA to get it started, he said I'd need to get it into a garage to get diagnostics run to find out what's wrong. It's going, but it takes a LITTLE bit more effort than it should to start. Figure I should get it sorted before something bad happens.

    It's a 2l TDi. 2005.

Didn't spot it the first time I read it. No need to be a kunt about it if you have nothing of use to add

EDIT: In fact the post was edited after I posted last night. That didn't show up earlier on the phone when I posted

The EML may or may not be related to the starting issue. The 2.0 TDI has a few things that can prevent it from starting as easily as it should. If you want a diagnostic scan and some advice (for free) and are willing to travel as far as Bray some evening or weekend then PM me and we will arrange it.

I thought you were located in Mayo for some reason.

Handy to know you are around Bray George in case I need you

Traffic dependent it could be done in slightly over an hour at legal speeds

Exactly, it rarely takes more than an hour and a bit unless there is an accident or some other holdup. If I leave before 7:30am I am at work by 8:30. This morning I was late getting up and only left at 7:50, was still in work for 9:05. Doing the same journey in the opposite direction would be far worse.

Door to door from Wicklow to Nenagh is exactly 1 hour and 50mins at quiet times

Imagine what that journey would have taken 10 years ago! I think the improved road network is about the only good thing that we got from the Celtic Tiger years...

EDIT: Apologies to the OP for taking this thread totally off topic :D

I remember a bus journey in 2003 taking 6 1/2 from Dublin to Nenagh on a Friday evening due to the building works on the motorway.

    I nearly died

Yeah, it takes less time to drive to Mullingar than it used to drive from Lucan.
