Quick question regarding changing wordpress themes

    Hey all,

    I have a website based on wordpress (I should probably clarify the website was a pain in the jock setting up, though i got the hang of the wordpress admin layout after a while, though I have no idea of the technical parts of any website building or FTP software or such).


    Anyway, my site is here: http://shanemaguire.ie/

    It's based on a wordpress theme called Sliding Doors (or something to that effect). I like it, but I'm bored of it, and I want to change it. I found what I think is a pretty good theme, called Photocrati.

    My question is, if I buy photocrati and install it on my site, what will it change on my site, content-wise? Will my galleries and bodies of text, etc. all get erased, or will Photocrati try to keep everything as it is, and try to apply all my pages and pictures/text into it's own theme (so essentially my site is still identical, but just looks different).


    Or is there something I'm overlooking here?

    Just thought I'd ask as I don't usually download anything when I change themes (i changed a few times in the matter of an hour or so about a year and a half ago before I settled on the current theme) but I believe that I have to download the Photocrati theme (though I assume then it's just a case of nstalling it on the wordpress site and browsing my computer to find the photocrati file to upload or such?).



    Just a little confused, and don't want to break my site AND pay €70 for the privilege. :o

    Changing the theme doesn't touch the DB, it only affects how the site is laid out. Photocrati should do much the same as any other theme change you have done in the past, except as you say you'll need to manually upload it to your Wordpress Themes folder first.

    I know this thread is a bit old but there are some great themes on themeforest. and at $35 they are great value.

    Also you will probably need to do some tweeking to the site when you upload the new theme.
