To increase range get a better hop-up rubber (Madbull Blue, Guarder clear, G&G)
To get tighter grouping get a Tight Bore Barrel something around 6.03 is probally best
To increase ROF get a high speed motor (G&P M120, AIP 50000, SHS High Speed)

If you have a DBoys Scar and have not modded the stock to take a 9.6v battery then that would be the first place to start

its the dboys one but a 9.6v nunchuck fits in it

Instead of a 9.6v NiMh battery, get a 7.4v LiPo with a rating of 20/25C. No need to start faffing around with the stock unless you want to fit a monster of a LiPo (e.g. 4000 MaH like the one I run in the piggy).

A cheap and cheerful upgrade and you don't even need to crack open the AEG; unless you want to use deans connectors instead of Tamiya ones (it's a wiring/soldering job). It's not a substitute for sorting your hop & barrel, etc. but it's a start.

To increase the range, accuracy and consistency there are a couple of things you can do:
    - Ensure you have the correct cylinder installed (non-ported for >500mm barrels; ported for <500mm barrels)
    - Replace original barrel with an aftermarket tightbore barrel. Recommended barrels are Prometheus (expensive but very durable and high quality), Madbull Black Python VII (pretty darn good), JBU (I like them - not heard many other reports though) and Vanaras.
    - Extend inner barrel for slightly improved groupings
    - Replace Hop up rubber with aftermarket softer rubber. Recommended ones are Guarder Clear (Irish standard), G&G Green (softer rubber with better seal than Guarder clear...also not as susceptible to tearing as the guarder clear), Madbull Blue (pretty good rubber - tight fit in many chambers though), Prometheus Purple (decent rubber...I prefer the G&G green in most rifles though).
    - Replace the hop up nub with a piece of biro tube of the same size; this will improve the consistency of the spin imparted on the BB's
    - Place PTFE tape around end of hop up rubber and barrel to improve air seal
    - Wrap Electrical tape around barrel at regular intervals to stabalise the inner barrel in the outer barrel
    - Experiment with different barrels and hop up rubbers; rifles tend to prefer specific combinations, and it does vary from rifle to rifle. In my experience there is no am bestest.

For Rate of Fire you can:
    - Replace tamiya connectors with Deans (lower resistance)
    - Use a higher voltage battery
    - Use a high C rated lipo battery
    - Use a high speed motor
    - Install a MOSFET

You'll find that everyone has their preferred manufacturers of upgrade parts etc, and specific upgrades as well :)
