Fancy techy alarm clocks?

Can anybody recommend a decent alarm clock. I would like one that can play music when I wake up and have various controls, like slowly raise the volume, have remote snooze with variable snooze duration. One which slowly shines light to simulate dawn etc.

Not sure if there are other features some might have. One suited to lucid dreaming would be good, which would need a decent snooze. I am guessing some might have remote control snooze things and you could press various buttons for different durations. So you could reset it without even opening your eyes.

If you have an iphone/android phone it can do most of that with the right apps.

actually can't you also schedule programs to run on your computer or laptop? i think so

so you could have a radio start or your favor songs - just schedule it, google how it works i am not sure

I got an app for android called Lightening Bug which does a lot of what you want.

It allows you to play sounds to help you sleep and has a built in alarm with snooze options etc...

I don't really use the alarm part though. I use another app for that called ElectricSleep Beta which allows you to have alarms that vibrate the phone and set off a ringtone which can be pretty much any music file on android phones.

It also can record your sleep patterns based on your movement in your sleep after some initial calibration if you leave it on your bed.

Then you can setup Light Sleep pre-alarm which will allow it to set the alarm off in the light sleep cycle close to the time you want to wake up.

You can also set the snooze duration on this app.

You can configure multiple alarms to go off on different days at different times too. I use one to wake up and one when I have to leave the house to get to work so I don't lose track of time and leave late.

Thanks guys, I had forgotten about this thread. I think I found an excuse to get a better phone. The one I have is OK but to snooze you really have to look at it, at least you can vary the snooze time but it still snoozes out at 5min intervals.

Ideally I could pre-progam varied snoozes the night before, like first hit is 30mins, second 5mins etc. Sounds like the programs/apps mentioned might do it, I will read up.

I will look into laptop ones too, it could be set on hibernate or something and slowly brighten up. I know you can have the PS3 controller attached to a laptop. It would be good if you could just slap it for snooze control.
