Looked up some reviews, mostly positive though People are having trouble with wi fi after re installing Windows 7 on it........

I've bought plenty from Pixmania without any issue.

I've bought plenty from Pixmania without any issue.

The last two deliveries I received from them had been opened ,the courier was dhl though.
I have an order open on amazon for a ASUS K53U E450 3GB 15.6 for €350 all in ,but I would cancel and order this if I knew I'd have no trouble:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,357 ✭✭✭✭SteelyDanJalapeno

There's gonna be horror stories with every company, some get lucky and some dont, could easily happen with Amazon or anyone else. your issues were with the courier and not Pixmania?

It's hard to complain to pixmania about anything ,thats why I find it hard buying something like a laptop. When I had trouble with an item on amazon they sent me a new item and gave me 30 days to return the faulty one.
They also refunded me postage a couple of days after the return.

My worst fear on pixmania is that they would send the wrong laptop.

I've already ordered, so I expect it Wednesday or Thursday, I can report back then

Quick question regarding the laptop...what graphics card is with it??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,357 ✭✭✭✭SteelyDanJalapeno

You can switch between Nvidia GeForce GT 520M and Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Where does it say in the pixmania listing its got a dedicated GFX card?

You can buy the Z570 with integrated graphics also.

More than likely its integrated graphics.

Doesn't mention it on the Pixmania site, but theirs a physical switch to choose between the 2,
nterestingly, though, Lenovo hasn’t opted for Nvidia’s Optimus technology, choosing instead to utilise a physical switch on the laptop's front edge. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing: where Optimus automatically switches between the Intel and Nvidia chipsets as it sees fit, the Z570 has you swapping chipsets at the flick of a switch, which you could argue gives you more control. Sticking with Intel’s integrated HD Graphics 3000, the Z570 lasted a healthy 5hrs 27mins in our light-use battery test.

Some reviews suggest bluray and 6GB ram.

The tech sheet on pixmainia is not that indepth unfortunately :/

It clearly says it has 4GB Ram and a DVD RW drive.

    No blu ray drive.

Anytime I see Pixmania mentioned it sends a shiver down my spine.
I gave up on them years ago.

If your unlucky enough to get a faulty laptop or something, good luck getting any hop off pixmania. One of the most gruelling ordeals I had to go through to get a dvd player replaced. Had to be posted off to france in special packaging I think it was, and took ages and lots of PAID phone calls to get a refund.

    Never using them again.

Id advise you all also not to use them.

Got this delivered by UPS today, no issues less than a 40 hour turn around, smashing laptop.

If it's so good why'd you smash it?

Pretty sure it's Intel 3000 HD.

Done abit of searching around, seems the product code is 10249LU, which happens to be the base Z570 model with the i3, 4GB of ram, 500gig HD & integrated fgx.

The next model up is the one with an i5, 6gb ram, blu-ray & the nvidia 520gt as mentioned on the previous page.

    Bang on

Just took delivery but there is no battery in the box.

The inner manufacturers box had a black circular sticker that was ripped and some selotape over it.
The outerbox with French writing on the selotape they use looked like it was not opened.

So I assume someone in the factory took a battery from this?

Fujitsu, near same spec as Lenovo and cheaper.

I don't know what it's like though, only 2 left.

One down in 12 mths is bad luck, but 2 ? What were you doing to them ? Lenovo are generally a solid and well regarded unit.

Thats cheaper if the price has gone up to 445 on the other,

What piece are you on about? Lenovo will have the same guarantee regardless of who sells their product.

Not Lenovo ,let's just say the Pixmania does not excell in their customer support.
yes, your contract is with the seller but the problem is just with Pixmania when the things go wrong ......

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole

Having read nearly every Thread on the Currys Forum, it would be near the bottom of my list of places to buy anything from.

At least it is a brick and mortar store ,not saying that the are the best ones out there ,
however I feel if there will be something wrong with the product then I have a better chance to have the issue solved when dealing a face to face actually
