New 'credit card' type driver's license

Just got a reminder letter in the post for the renewal of my driver's license. Did I see something in the news recently that all new driver license's will of a 'credit card' type that you can keep in your wallet? With other new features too. Or has this being delayed?

Its been delayed by about 12 years, seeing as we were meant to be getting them in 1999 or so.

You new one will still be trifold paper.
