sync problem

    So the long and short of it is none of my apps or accounts will sync to my phone. every time i try and set it up, it says i have to sync my google acc but every time i try it says could not establish secure data service, if problem persists please contact network provider. so i have a google and gmail account and im putting in the right info for log in but still getting this message. its a right pain, dunno why im getting this message either cause the net on my android is working fine. duno where else the problem could exsist like. ps im using the galaxy s. would appreciate it someone could shine some light on this....
