    Are car covers any use?
Or do they, as I've heard somewhere, ,mark the paintwork ? I've a car I hardly use (but like) and haven't the option of building a garage for it. So what do you think - cover or not?
    thanks

Car covers are in great use if you for example, work for Tayto and find loads of frying oil on your windscreen and the whole car everytime you leave work but as long as you don't do that, then you don't really need it

I'd say if the car is in regular use they might be a good idea otherwise not as they will likely keep dampness underneath and eventually corrode exposed metal on the car.

Will be moving offices soon and the new office is located beside a quarry. A considerable amount of dust tends to blow over the car park and sit on top of the cars already there. I've heard the dust can damage the paintwork.

Therefore I'm looking for an outdoor car cover for an E90 Saloon, BMW do an OEM one (see below), waiting to hear back on a price, don't expect it to be cheap. It will be to simply cover the car while I'm at work, it won't be left there overnight or any longer than a working day typically.

Has anyone bought one of these OEM Bimmer ones? or any alternatives, dust covers or anything else?

    Thanks.

Unless the car is completely clean when putting the cover on, wouldn't it just rub the dust into the paint?

Possibly so. I would intend to keep the car as clean a possible but it would be impossible to keep the dust completely off, before parking and putting the cover on.

Open to any other suggestions? Obviously trying to minimise any risk or potential damage to the paintwork.

having worked in quarries for yrs i would not be bothered getting a car cover id make sure and give the car a good wash once a week and every few months give it a good polish and wax

Thanks man, that may be the best option. I'll be cleaning the car anyway, so perhaps just do it a bit of regularly, then make sure I give it a good polish and wax a bit more frequently.

I used Noah ones for the E39 and E31. Good quality imo.
