    You've the wrong link OP.

    http://www.thejournal.ie/taoiseachs-mother-eithne-kenny-dies-289782-Nov2011/
THE GOVERNMENT HAS announced that Eithne Kenny, mother of Taoiseach Enda Kenny, has died. She was 93.

Mrs Kenny, nee McGinley, celebrated her 93rd birthday in February prior to her son becoming Taoiseach.

She was formerly a home economics teacher.

Born in Glencolmcille, Co Donegal and Mrs Kenny was married to Henry Kenny, a former TD for Mayo West who was succeeded by his son, Enda, in 1975 following his death.

Mrs Kenny is survived by her five children, four sons John, Henry, Enda, Kieran and a daughter Marie Hastings.

The government says that funeral arrangements will be released when finalised.
    **
Condolences to the Taoiseach and his family.

In fairness this has nothing to do with politics.......

A condolence post on a politics thread is never a good idea.

There is no real political debate in a death.

    You might try rip.ie op

Well I thought because it was in relation to the Taoiseach that this was the most relevant forum to post in. Maybe AH would have been more appropriate

It probably was - unless you want to turn Eithne Kenny's death into a matter of political comment. Given the hairpulling and screaming over Brian Lenihans ill-advised condolence thread its safe to say that no one wants Eithne Kenny's death turned into a matter of political comment or debate.

Can someone please explain to me why the death of the mother of the taioseach is of such importance. May she sincerely RIP, but I don't see how her death is worthy of anything more than a brief mention in the press

Eithne Kenny was involved in politics for much of her life, She supported her late husband Henry who was a TD 1954 to 1974, and then supported her son Enda in his Dáil career and late her son Henry as a county councillor. In those days politicians did not have offices or paid staff. Mrs Kenny provided this service.

IN the West, especially in Mayo, politics is a family affair. She would have entertained thousands of callers to her house. She was highly respected by all sides in political circles in the County.

There was a huge attendance at her removal last night and again at the funerall today. President attended last night, leader of the opposition and many other politicians attended today.

I believe it is appropriate to mention her passing on this board.

My point was not that she was worthy of a mention or not.

My point is that condolence threads can often attract callous comments.

Buying a mass card or posting a comment on rip.ie would be a lot more appropriate for a dead person than posting here.

Condolence threads rarely end on a good note

Thanks for the reply nuac. She was clearly very important in the political careers of her family, I wasn't aware as to how much. It's a shame the posters on the journal.ie website could not offer me a similar well supported point of view.

Rip. As mentioned above she was heavily involved in politics with her husband Henry, as well as raising four children and working as a home economics teacher in Westport. She was a true lady and the volume of people who turned up at her funeral in a rain drenched Castlebar, of all political leanings, is a testament to that.
