    Hi,

its that time where i feel i need a new guitar! in the past i have played an ibanez gio, and currently playing an epiphone SG, which i like a lot. Now I am looking for a guitar with a sense of maturity, something that feels solid and will last a long time. I like guitars that feel heavy and solid while pounding out chords but very light and smooth when you start soloing.. I am considering an ESP or either a Schechter... also something which is very sleak and smart looking. What are your thoughts? I would love to hear some peoples recommendations. My spending limit is about €600

€100 over, but worth evry penny of it. Solid, chunky, nice neck profile for runs up the frets. Tone and sustain other guitars dream about. Thank me later.:D

I've never played an Ibanez GIO but I have played a couple of Schecters. Beautiful looking and sounding guitars but I found the neck very chunky (a lot like a Les Paul). Some people like that, I don't. Make sure to try before you buy if possible.

For that kind of price, I have to agree with darrenw5094. Those Charvel Pro Mods look fantastic for the price, if you're into Floyds of course. I, for one, am not, otherwise I would probably have bought one! The hardtail limited edition model in Candy Tangerine is very tempting too, but perhaps a little expensive for what it is. Perhaps.

i got this not too long ago and it's a cracker,i now you might think "another cheap epi" but this stands against my gibson les paul quite favorable,If not a little punchier,If i was you don't get too hung up on price and more what suits you and your style

    Slightly off topic,

May I ask what are the pro's/con's of the floyd rose?

Tuning stability, mainly. Standard Strat type and Bigsby tremelos are notoriously detrimental to your tuning. The Floyd Rose minmises this problem. I never use a tremelo and find them a hindrance rather than useful. Would take a hard tail any day. Some people find themselves using the tremelo alot however, and for them, the Floyd Rose is the business. As ever, to each their own.
I would suggest however, for beginners and improvers, the tremelo is a distraction which complicates and far from vital, to be avoided. Nothing worse than someone who can't string a coherent solo together dive bombing on a tremelo and substituting it for a decent vibrato in their skillset.
