Sweet! I may have missed something on the plans but it looks like there's only one exit from the sub levels?

Seen it before, fairly daycent gaff

Would be better if the entrance was completely covered (no cottage) though you could make it look abandoned in a shtf event

Ya it seems there is only one. You can understand that given it's original function though. It really is a complete package.

With the right tech you could even have a underground garden in the silo, not to mention plenty of room for a workshop etc.

Or it could be lots of dance floors filled with fine beours and loud music and a pump at the bottom to recirculate all the spilt drink back to the bar for serving after a time when everyone's too pissed to care

Trouble is;I dont think you ever really "own" one.As it was built by uncle sam,I'm sure there is somthing in the very fine print that allows him to take it back if and when he needs it!
I reckon you would need his budget to keep and maintain and redesign it to your specs as well.
and in the crunch I think you will have a fair few people looking for the escape hatches to get into your "ol Shelteroonie"[As Ned Flanders called it:)],and live of your supplies, water, and what not.:(

but any strong hold be it a farm or bunker like the op is gonna have people looking to get in Thats just an issue your gonna have to deal with like in your thread about useless family members

Only one possible home that would top that.....a submarine :D

If I could scrape together a few million would be a lovely place to live, plenty of space in the area for family to build with all the outdoor pursuits you could possibly want. Must check on the gun laws in upstate NY.

Would make a great investment for 10 families or so, $300k each would get them a share in a bunker and area of land to build on with enough money left over to build with. Up that to €400k and the additional levels of the bunker could be decorated to suit and a few years worth of food.

the only kind that escapes is the one that nobody knows about. obviously if you manage to build such a thing the first thing you should do is not make a website about it and show it off.

people showing off their stuff like this is what will get them caught out in a shtf situation. you could post pics of your underground lair but you'd have to make sure nobody could find where it is or trace it back to you

Apparently there are a lot of these for sale all over the US (or at least there were). Louis Theroux interviewed a fella who was living in one and made his living selling them or mediating the sale of them from the government or something. His one looked quiet cosy inside actually although he wasn't using it as a SHTF hide-out.

Its a shame there's none in Ireland. Though I'm sure there's a disused bomb proof iodine tablet & e-voting machine storage location somewhere
