    Hi,

i was having a problem with my shower pump as i think it was clogged with lime, the guy in the local hardware recommended to pour a bottle of protex inhibitor descaler into the storage tank in the attic, i did this and the problem with the pump is solved but there is a strong odour from the water. i have drained the hot and cold water tanks and refilled twice but the smell is still slightly there. im just wondering is it safe to start using the shower again or should i flush it through a few more times to be safe. any advice would be great and thanks in advance

Inhibitor and descaler are 2 different bottles and TBH i would not have used it for this application as it is not rec for this application. If you look at the back of the bottles you will see the descaler is highly corrosive and dangerous.

I would contact Excel industries in coolmine and ask them for advice on how to flush it through as they produce it.

i was thinking the guy in the shop gave the wrong stuff, the stuff he gave me was for a central heating system. ive emtied the cold water storage tank in the attic and also the hot water tank in the hot press twice surely this would be enough to dilute it. i have been washing my hands with the hot water with no problems im just afraid to let the kids in the shower as their skin will be more sesitive.

I dont think your getting the picture. This stuff is a chemical. Its highly toxic. Legally no one on here can actually give you advice because you have used it incorrectly.

You need to contact Excel industries in Coolmine.
