I was getting my boiler serviced yesterday and the engineer noticed the was a leak at the gas valve. today i got a call from board gais saying it would be 465 euro for the replacement part as far as i can tell this is a bit excessive. does anybody know how much it should cost?

    Boiler info:
    Alpha CB24 (combi boiler)
    GC:47 532 15

For the part itself the price is outrages.
Check for the price with the manufacturer/trader. Check the www., there are plenty of online spare part traders.

as far as i can tell from spare parts sites it should cost about 100 - 150 pounds in the UK so when i'm told more than 200 euro here i feel like i'm getting ripped off

You are being ripped off. The agents for Alpha are in Rathcool. I will get there number for you or try Google Alpha Ireland. Did he elaborate as to were on the gas valve it was leaking? Did he cap the boiler off?

If it costs £150 you can bet it will cost €300.

BG will always have a higher cost then an independent RGI, in my experience.

Personally I wouldn't let them or their agents inside my door.

How much work would BG get if there customers didn't need to put the repair costs on their gas bills.
