Setting up Ipad

    Hi all.

Basically im going to give my aunt an ipad 1. She is not tech savvy and will only need a few things on the ipad.

Im going to install ios5 on it. my query is:

before, when you set up and ipad, you have to have itunes, a user id etc. and whenever you connected the ipad to another computer, u are in trouble because you cant sync.

She is not in the same country as i am, so i am sending this thing off as a gift with someone else.

she wont be able to figure out the itunes stuff, so i want to set up everything for her before.

will she have trouble once she connects her computer?

what i want to happen is:

install ios 5 (can do from any computer with itunes 10.5)
set it up for her without connecting to my computer ( i will create an apple user id for her).
install all apps she would need via appstore.

for example, there is an app (comics) where you can transfer stuff to the app via usb (batch) or wifi (one by one) and i have about 10gb of files to upload, so id like to avoid one by one if possible.

then, i want to give it to her, so she can start using it, and if needed, can connect to her computer without it wiping EVERYTHING off.

is this feasible?how do i upload stuff without it needing to connect to my computer first?

    Thanks for helping

Aunt received ipad from overly kind nephew
Aunt starts itunes on her laptop / pc
    Aunt connects ipad to pc
Aunt choses store / authorize computer options from itunes title bar
Aunt will be presented with itunes login screen where she enters the username and password that kind nephew has sent here from the pre-created account
Aunt choses "transfer purchases" option on popup window ( erase and sync option will do just what it says so aunt must NOT select this option !)

I think that should do it

Note: if the aunt is not presented with the above prompt to initiate the process when she connects ipad to itunes, then if she looks at the source list on the left side she will see "lucky aunt's ipad" . If she right clicks this, she shoud receive the option for transfer purchases also.

If you could get Your hands on a friends pc ( preferebly a non apple head , you could perform a dry run to test above but i think that she will be ok

    Best of luck;)

iOS5 no longer requires you to plug it into a computer to set up.

The new set up on the device is very simple to do and I would recommend she does that over plugging it into her computer.
