Hey - I need a cheap and cheerful gun safe for a .22 with sight if anyone can help out? Usual story - applying for license....Obviously want to keep the expense of a first gun down.

I'm in the North Cork area but sometimes travel to Dublin etc - all things considered

    How'ya buddy.

Maybe you got sorted with a safe by now but if you haven't here's my 2 cents on gun safes.

I only recently got my .22 and as you said, i was also trying to keep the initial costs down. The safe i got was one of those green "Vogue" safes, bought as part of a bundle deal with the gun. At 8"x8"x51" (outside dimensions) i found it to be only barely big enough to accommodate my CZ452 with Hawk scope.

Bottom line: If you think you might get another gun in the future or even just intend having a large scope on your rifle, try go for a bigger safe than you think you need.

I got this one a few months ago, fits my hmr with scope and pump action shotgun in it.

145 and delivered to your door.

Same size as mine. fair play for getting 2 guns in, do you find it a bit cramped?

Also (not to hijack this dudes post) what did you think of sportsden? Must take a spin up some time.

not to much bother, i wouldnt fit a third gun, have the hmr in it with the scope in the back left corner and the shotty in the right side. the shotgun is just too tall to take out though.so ive to tilt it sideways.

if you are looking for a rifle/scope safe you'll have to buy a deep safe, even the buffallo river 5 gun safe is a struggle to fit a o/v, 2 scoped rifles.

only bought off them once and I had the safe the day after ordering

Thanks lads - got sorted last weekend - sorry Ive not been online much over the past week. Was up in Belfast anyhow so picked one up handy there - apparently takes three guns - its good and deep anyhow so no bothers what soever getting the .22 in there with a scope.

Thanks again for all the various responses.
