What will the social services do?

I recently reported someone for abusing me when i was 8 y.o to the social services but because he isn't around children on a daily basis, I was told that he my call wouldn't be investigated. So did any good come out of me reporting him? What is going to be done?

If you are over eighteen and haven't reported this to the gardai then there's nothing the HSE can do to him. What were you expecting?
