Hey guys when I 1st started watching movies I downloaded I used a media player call argosy it is quite simple media player with 1tb. Sadly its basic and itsnt very fancy like some media players or xbmc.

I have a custom built pc and at the moment I have 3x1tb drives on it. So I downloaded xbmc there the other day and I have been messing about with it on my computer but havnt hooked the computer up to my pc.

So ideally id like to still use the computer as the home computer but store all my movies on its hardrives and either connect the computer to the tv or get a better media player and share my media to it through my computer.

Now this is where I get abit confused. At the moment my dsl router is in the sitting room and its connected to a power line plug adapter and my computer is in the dinning room connected to the other power line.
The power line adapters are pretty old so I will probably change them to faster ones.

What way do you gusy think I should hook it all up?
For example if I get a media player that hooks to the internet what way can I connect that to my pc that it pulls my media to it and also hook it up to the internet to use some of its online features.

Also if I want the tv in the sitting room to be connected to the pc and the one in the dining room and have both running xmbc.

See I am just confused and not sure what way to hook it all up.

    Any advice would be great.

Keep your PC, Share your Media folders.

Buy a boxeebox and hook that up to the TV, This can access Media from the PC in the other room.

Relocate your router to beside the Boxee box or run a network cable to it out of sight.

Test streaming accross powerline adapters, They will probably suffice for SD content and may be ok for HD.

    So

PC to Router via poweline. Router to Boxee via Cable.

Tnx for the reply man I aint too sure about the boxee box as I have heard its not as good on the latest os. I may do the same as you have suggested but with a htpc.

Despite a few issues, the Boxee Box is the best off the shelf media player available, (next to building a HTPC with XBMC). I've no real issues with mine, it plays absolutely everything I throw at it. There's nothing wrong with the OS, people were just pissed they changed the UI, but it is a better layout. It is getting continuous attention from the development team with firmware updates every few weeks (last was 25th Oct), same can't be said for the other media players on the market (WD, Iomega, Roku, Revu etc all have issues and no updates).
