Bored, browsing youtube... remembered this play, and had to start this thread.

Every time i watch this (and i keep watching it, again and again) I can't believe how fast the ball leaves his hand and flies 50+ yards through the air. When you hold a football, or even throw it, and think about this man's ability to launch it, it's actually unfathomable.

My favourite play not nearly the best I've ever seen but just love this one.

Its the Brady to Welker Statue of Liberty play. Two videos, first one isn't very clear but watch it first. Second one shows it in slow motion, it was so well sold by Brady.

Statue of Liberty play above, the perfect play action.

A personal favourite of mine is Cam Newton's famous TD run versus LSU. He was amazing up to this point in the season, but this is the play that cemented him as a superstar. The way he outran Patrick Peterson - one of the fastest CBs in football - just blew me away and I genuinely yelled "holy shít" as he ran it in.

I know it's effectively a hit and hope but it was just a ridiculous throw and catch in the dying moments of a Superbowl against the Patriots. One of the first full matches of NFL I watched aswell so that tie got me interested.

One gets so into great moments, old clips of the Immaculate Reception, the Catch and of course more recently the Tyree catch are just great to watch.

My own favourite may be a bit more obscure. The Instant Replay Game and the Cardiac Pack. It just seemed to define the moment the Pack stopped being the Bears whipping boy, and the inbalance though the 80s was finally turned. I think any Packers fan must rate it very highly, the whole suspense during the replays, the reaction of the fans, the thought of Ditkas Bears and all they had done through the Packers in the 80s and the low after low, 4th and goal, no timeouts, 41 seconds left...it still makes the hair stand...

2003? I think, remember the Colts when on a run of not using their punter for 10 quarters of football or something? Hunter SMith was the punter I believe.....they hammered the broncos that day48-3 or something? I am gonna go and check this now and see if I'm right, i'd be ver impressed if this was all correct but it isn't way off!

It gets my goat a little to hear Ben Graham's tackle cited as the best play ever - like, it's held up as an example of pure determination etc. What he did was basic football. If anything, it's an indictment of the other players on the field that he was the only one who kept going 100% to the end of the play. But that's nothing special. He got a spectacular tackle because the Broncos, including Bailey, stopped playing.

It's certainly a 'good' play... but nothing special. It's up there with Don Beebe stripping Leon Lett in the Bowl in the early 90s. Nice to look at, and a reminder that the play's never over until the whistle blows... but not a great play.

There's a ton of Barry Sanders plays out there too, but I can't access them in work.

They're all ridiculously skillful plays. The other type of 'best every play' (IMO) is the pressure play, when the stakes are really, really high. Can't get video, but here are a few selections, in no particular order:

1. Montana passing to Taylor in the Bowl in 1989 with about 30 seconds on the clock vs Cincy.
2. Big Ben to Santonio vs the Cardinals to win the Bowl a few years ago.
3. Vince Young scoring the winner on 4th and 15 vs USC in the National Championship.
4. Manning to Wayne 2-pointer vs Pittsburgh in the Conference Final in, I think, 2008. The Colts lost anyway... but it was an inch-perfect pass, stunning catch... and it looked so pretty, with the chips flying up as Reggie's toe dragged!

Oh yeah, there's a class video out there somewhere of Mark Bavaro dragging a few future HoF 49ers for about 15 yards. Beast.

i'd have to browse youtube (no access at work) , but surely Barry Saunders, Deion , Randell Cunningham , LT , Sweetness, rice etc have put up some spectacular plays ,
one that sticks out is the opening KO of the 2006 superbowl .....devin Hester take a bow

or as seen live in Giants stadium , when Devin returned the Missed FG by the giants 108yards for TD .................ridiculous , was in the crowd , even the Giants fans couldn't belive what they'd just witnessed

Spike play, Marino to mark ingram his 4th td of the game. Dolphins 17-0 down, Marino brought them back and finished them off with that play, 1994. Great era of football.

Lol, lost us a super bowl with the most routine of catches, but yeah, it's a ridiculous catch.

the Moss one -- just nuts. he doesn't ever put his left hand on it. just basically glues his right hand to it and TD. the guy had an inhuman amount of talent. Somewhat wasted, you'd have to say.

Yet still is in the top 3 for receiving touchdowns, 9rd in Receiving and 5th in Reception yards all for a guy who had multiple years of being in either awful teams or just not giving a ****. God I miss him.

Could've had multiple rings and records. Was certainly good enough. Had two truly great seasons. One with the Vikes, one with the Pats.
