the idea has being around for a long time without catching on. There must be problems somewhere in the operation as it makes sense to do

Its a very good idea, them net are a danger, if a hungry animal broke out and found them with silage through them if ya had them lying around.

Could see problems with short or chopped wet grass. Can't see that it would be as strong as net.
If you don't want your cattle eating net then don't leave it "lying around". Problem solved :p

seems very good idea but are you not applying similar volume of wrap back at the yard to cover the top and bottom... ie sides double wrapped just first protective wrap to sides is plastic instead of netting

right this is how it works. the new fusion two puts plastic on whre the nets go as ye all know it puts on one or two rounds then bale throughn out rapper pickes it up and the it only needs to be spun round 8 times or even less as wehn a bale gets rapped 16 times the bit where the net is gets rapped twice but the two ends of the bales get rapped like 5or 6 times or even more as the plastic is always on the end. so buy using this new fusion you save on rap and theres no need to buy net. its a great idea for hay or straw as the air can get through the bale but the rain cant soak through the hay/straw as theres a cover over them

what's the price difference between using net and usual no of layers of wrap versus this method and less layers of wrap ???

it could prove handy if your tight for space for hay or straw, especially straw, you could just stack it outside with min loss / wasteage???
