Hi all, i want a bit of advice please, my bb,s in my m249 seem to be all jamming in the hop up and barrel when i fire it, i have tried to take off the hop up rubber and refit it but this isn't doing the job. the bbs are feeding out of the mag box and up the feeding tubes all right but are getting caught up just as the enter the barrel, its relatively new so its not an old hop up and the gun was shooting fine for the most part up to a while ago, please if anyone has had a problem with this before on the m249 i think it might be a common problem with them. Also can someone explain to me why adjusting the hop up right back might be bad for the gearbox as i have read somewhere. thanks.

Haven't had the problem with my own one - is it an A&K?

Anyway, adjusting the hop up all the way on can jam the gun, and when you continue to try and fire a jammed gun you can damage parts of your gear box - strip gears/pistons, burn out your trigger contacts and motor etc depending on how much you try and fire. Thankfully most people know to stop firing if their gun is jammed, to clear the rifle and then try again.

I'm not really sure what's going on there, perhaps Thermo or Lperozzi could help - they've both done a lot of work to their M249's :)

Take a close look at the chamber... There should be two positioning screws, that wont allow the feeding part of the chamber to wobble/move, and hold it in correct position.

If thats the case, match the correct screws and align the hop-up chamber with feeder.

Other element worth checking is the air nozzle, but I never had a problem with them in m249s, especially with your one is relatively new.

Manufacturers name & the brand and type of new hop-up fitted would put a bit of light on the problem as well.

P.S. Unfortunately, lack of the mentioned chamber pins is common for some A&K models, as manufacturer in all its wisdom decided to make place for them, but... not to fit them from factory.

    Hi,

There is a good chance that you have a BB issue.

When I had my KA Sig 556 every time I used ICS BBs they would jam.

QC seemed to have dropped the ball as 1 in 20 BBs were teardrop shaped.

    Try different ammo first.

    Cheers.

Have you done any work to it? Have you removed the front barrel assembly at all? Check the spring that sits infront of the hopup unit is still there! I've had two m249's on the bench lately were the spring has gone missing, allowing the hopup chamber to move forward when you pull the trigger :)

Have you just started using the free gun fire rocket BB's?

Exact same thing happened me. oild mags, cleaned barrel, took apart gearbox, replaced rubber. turned out after all it was the gunfire rocket BB's that where the problem.

They don't seem to be even half as shiny as other premium grade BB's. causing them to stick to the rubber.

Hey lads, thanks for all the advise, i got the problem sorted and it was none of the above. i just took out the barrel and had a close look, turns out that the little nub on the hop up was sitting too proud and therefore restricting the bb,s leaveing the barrel. Something very small but something i had missed when i did it the first time. Thanks for all the advice though.:D
