I was just wondering would my new macbook pro be able to run the new Star Wars MMO, I am not familiar with how to work my macbook and find my specs or even the version of macbook pro.

    The system requirements are as follows;

    Processor:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or better
    Operating System:
    Windows XP or later
    RAM:

    Windows XP: 1.5GB RAM
Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB RAM
Note: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB of RAM.

Star Wars: The Old Republic requires a video card that has a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM as well as support for Shader 3.0 or better. Examples include:

    ATI X1800 or better
    nVidia 7800 or better
Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better
DVD-ROM drive – 8x speed or better (required for installation from physical editions only) Internet connection required to play.

Click on the Blue Apple icon (menu bar - top left).
    Select "About the Mac".
For full details of hardware etc. click on "More info."

It should run no problem on a new Macbook Pro (or even one that's a few years old) through Bootcamp.

Bootcamp requires Windows to be installed.

What it allows is you to install Windows on your Mac alongside OSX and have the best of both worlds. It provides all the drivers etc so it's very easy to do. If you're going to game a lot on your Macbook it's a good idea.

Also, SWTOR requires Windows, it won't run under OSX, so you're going to have to go this route to play the game.

Bootcamp is for dual booting Windows on your Mac. The game you posted above won't run on Mac OS X.

Does anyone know places I can go to pay someone to do this for me? I am completely computer illiterate and it looks like a complicated process installing this boot camp and also learning how to use it

Where are you based in Ireland, if you ask nicely someone on this forum might do it for you for free or the price of a cup of coffee or something.

You will also need to buy a copy of Windows which will be at least €90-100. Bootcamp needs a licensed copy of Windows to run

You can get Window 7 for 45 euro if your a student http://www.software4students.ie/Windows_7-list.aspx

Check youtube on how to setup bootcamp. It's not hard to do.

    How did you get it?

    How did you get it?

Through one of the software places on the ucd website and then got a product key from the school (I think it was win7 professional) and got a few other versions but that was not from UCD but was for our course.
