    Hi all,

Have 4 X Continental 4X4 Contact 235/65 R17 108 V's on my VW Touareg since March. The rear driver side tyre drops from it's recommended 38 bar to about 20 bar over a period of about 2 weeks and will stay at that level for weeks as far as I can tell.

Could it be a standard nail or screw type slow puncture or a faulty valve or even poorly fitted?

I guess the only way to find out is to bring it into a tyre center but before I do I just thought I'd see if anyone here has any other thougths??

    Ben

... could add it needing a lash of bead seal to your list :)
Best to get it sorted, don't let the pressure drop that much either until you do.

Of course it can. If its a very tiny leak(which it is if its that slow) then 30+ psi can be enough to force its way out but 20psi may not be, hence it seems to 'stop' leaking.

    38 bar is over 500psi!

some times alloy wheel get corroded ... happened to my car, air escapes between wheel and tyre on it side, went to garage, took off tyre, clean side walls, where tire bedding in to wheel , put some liquid rubber, fitted it back, and haven't any problems since.

take off wheel, pump tyre up 35 psi, and put in water ( fully covered) ... big bucket or whatever, and youll see where air squeezes out.

OK OK I got BAR and PSi mixed up. Only on boards though, not in the tyres ;)
