Hi all, i was wondering how long it takes to get a deer hunting license when you submit an application ?

You apply, it goes to Them,Area Conservation Officer,ranger the back all the way until it lands on your door.

Give Ballybay a ring in the morn to see wbat stage your app is at. They are extremely helpful and very friendly to deal with.

i think you have to get permission off land owners or farmers with land in known deer spots to for proof. it has to have the name of the farmer, folio number or grid reference of the fieild and the amount of acres they have. once you get the license then you just need verbal permission. you always need permission first.

Spot on it took mine 4 weeks almost to the day and that was about a month ago.

I bought a gun last, Rem 770 .270 and downloaded the deer hunting forms online on wednesday night, filled them in and posted them on thursday, got a phone call on friday from the national parks looking for my date of birth and got permit in the post on monday morning. not bad going i reckon seeing as the lady on the other end of the line on friday told me it would be at least 2 weeks. All i need now is for the garda to inspect the safe and hopefully ill have the rifle before christmas

didnt think ya needed a safe for one gun or have ya more than one
or is it the fact its so high powered
have my guns before any of this crack came in
have a safe all the same

It was the gardai told ne id need the safe but even if they didnt say so id of put one in anyway with kids around da house and the fact that herself hates the things doesnt make it any easier

You don't need a safe for single shotgun but you need a safe for a single rifle.
I would still have a safe for a single shotgun. No point taking risks in this climate when people would rob the shirt off your back if they taught they could make a quick €

Without derailing the thread. As said above you may not need a safe for a single shotgun, but you do for a rifle or two or more firearms.

The "no safe" thing is only a minimum standard, and a Super can insist on a safe and even an alarm, locks, etc. IOW anything he deems necessary.

Just wondering foxer are you waiting on a gun licence too or had you the rifle already
