Software Advice Required

    Hi,

I am looking for a simple piece of software for a client which they can install on their server (or web based) and access it from several PC's. All their PC's are on the same network as the server.

They want to be able to input customer information in a database or similar storage which can be easily accessed. If possible, this information can be used as the foundation mail merging, treands analysis, simple data lookup etc. The customer is in the financial services spectrum so the data will need to be kept secure but it is not very complicated.

I considered developing a simple web facing secure application (as I am a web developer) that performed CRUD operations on data but decided leveraging an existing application would expose more features that could be utilized.

I also considered the likes of google docs etc but not quiet sure how well this would work for my client.

So any recommendations to a piece of software that may achieve what I outlined?

Please feel free to ask any further questions on the topic and any assistance would be great.

    Thanks.

I think you are looking at an Access database and maybe SharePoint. Both wouldn't be my strongest point so you may get a better suggestion. But it depends on how many people are accessing it and what they are doing with it. With Access databases you can do mail merges quite easily, having SharePoint may give you are more easily accessible interface which can also be highly configurable. But like I say it's not a strong point so can only provide a link for you to look over...

Any reason for not liking the other suggestions? Might help narrow it down?

Its not that I don't like the suggestions, I just want more options to compare. Nothing against what has been suggested.
