What size weights to use?

    I'm always confused with this I've heard lifting light weights is no good and tbh when I am in the gym any weights under 3kgs does nothing for me I heard to build some muscle and work them you need to aim higher I thought the 5kg were good for my biceps and bought them however they are way too heavy for tricep exercises. Anyway if there are any exercise gurus out there wondering what are the best weight sizes for women to use?

    What weight you use is purely dependent on the type of exercise, each individual person and what you're training the muscles for (endurance, strength etc). If you're going to buy weights to use at home you're better of getting dumbells/bars and weight plates which you can buy in sets. Then you can change the weight for different muscle groups, exercises etc..

    I am by no means a guru but for me Its whatever feels comfortable tbh and gives me a challenge,don't lift too heavy if your struggling because all you'll do is cause an injury but then again you have to challenge yourself so maybe try something in between? I hope that makes sense :o

    I go by the rule of thumb that if I can do more than 8 reps it's too light.

    The argos one does have metal collars while the amazon one seems to have plastic ones. So I would prefer the argos, but I don't think it is worth the price difference unless it is getting heavy use.
