looking at opel vectras at the moment. Doing about 12/13000 miles per year. looking at around a 2007 one. Which are the better petrol or diesel. saw two in an opel dealer near me both 2007 and silver. petrol had 40000 km and diesel had 55000km. diesel was 2000e dearer. diesel was 1. cdti 120 bhp. petrol was 1.6. What would the mpg be dealer was saying petrol 35/ diesel 45 mpg. my driving is usually country driving along narrow raods and up and down hills with the odd motorway run. which would be more powerful?
    so Petrol or diesel?

I'd go for the diesel easily over the dreaded 1.6 petrol! It might cost more but it will be nicer than the petrol, return better fuel economy and be worth more if you sell it on again.

Diesel will be more powerful than the 1.6, have a better resale value, much better fuel economy and alot better to dive.

With twice the torque of the petrol ( 280nm ) it will pull hard in 6th @ 80 km/h while the petrol will take all day to pick up speed in the same gear.

You can also remap the diesel to over 150bhp and 350nm torque for 400 euro.It will have all that power you need then.A little 1.6 petrol doesn't have that luxury.

Doesn't the diesel have a 6 speed gearbox and the 1.6 petrol a 5 speed?

That does make a difference in fuel economy when you are cruising the motorway @ 120 km/h

    Go diesel

Sorry to go off topic and I know this was a few months ago now but when you typed "Go Giesel" did you mean it to be read with a hand on the shoulder father son voice or were you going for the cheerleader thing? I can't quite make up my mind.
