Hi, i am new to this so i am very sorry if i am posting this in the wrong area. I would just like to share my experience with you and to see if anyone else had a bad experience after having a laparoscopy done.
In 2009 i had a laparoscopy done and was told i had endo (quite severe). I was sent home a few hours after the lap, i felt fine just very tender around my tummy. When i got home i was starving and my partner made me scrambled egg an toast(this was around 6pm) i ate again around 8.30pm. By 9.30 i had started to feel very unwell an went to bed. I tossed and turned all night and began to get awful stabbing pains in my butt(mainly the cheeks of my bum) and down the backs of my legs (i had no pain at all in my tummy). Around 6.30am the pain in my butt was almost unbearable it was agony to even move, i had to call my partner to help me to the loo and as we made our way to the loo i will never ever forget the pain that was shooting through my bum it really felt like it was on fire! I then started to bleed terrible from my back passage (sorry to be so graphic) an i passed out. My partner took me back to the hospital where i was put on a drip and left for 5 hours for the surgeon to come an look at me and he said i had developed an infection in my wound. Anyway to make a long story short later on that night i deteriorated very quickly and was brought down for emergency surgery, they even phoned my family in the early hours to come in as they did`nt think i was going to make it. but thankfully i have made a full recovery. It turns out that during my lap the surgeon had perforated my bowel and never copped it. The surgeon that did the emergency surgery said i had been very lucky to survive. I am now left with a 9 inch scar and have not been to any doctor about my endo since i was diagnosed as i am scarred stiff to go in case i need another lap. My endo leaves me crippled every month. I am sorry for rambling on but i would really like to hear from anyone who has had an experience like mine.

    You poor thing roseann.

Obviously we aren't allowed to get into the medical or legal side of things - you need to contact professionals for that - but hopefully posters can give you some general advice and empathy.

Thanks for replying Ickle Magoo, i decided not to go down the legal root about this. I had spoken to a solicitor once about it in 2010 but unfortunately a few days after speaking to him my beautiful mother was diagnosed with cancer and died within weeks. It made me realize that i should just be grateful that i`m still here for my son and i`ve probably left it too late now anyway as its just gone over 2 years since its happened. What is "posters" by the way?

You poor thing that sounds awful :(
I had mine done last year and I'll never forget the pain! It was all in my shoulders and easily the worst pain I've ever felt in my life but nothing compared to what you went through xx

I`m really sorry LadyMayBelle i don`t mean to frighten anyone with my bad experience, it is usually a very very slim chance of this happening during a lap and i was just unlucky it happened to me (i have to admit though i am a very unlucky person in general). I`m sure if you need to get a lap done you will be just fine. Good luck with your doctors appointment x

Hi Roseann, just wanted to say how your story really made me sad that this happened to you. I had a terrible smear experience a few years ago which left me in an awful state (mentally, not physically thank god) and although not at all as severe as your situation, I know how scary it is to feel like you're so vulnerable and doctors are the ones who caused the fear!! So you feel like you've nowhere to go to feel better.

    Welcome to boards too. :)

Hi Kimia, thank you for your post and your very kind words. i`m sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your smear its awful that someone in the medical profession can leave you so frozen with fear that you would rather put up with the pain/discomfort than get anything done about it:mad:
You hit the nail on the head when you said it feels like you`ve nowhere to go to feel better. My own GP wants to refer me back to the hospital because i`m so sick every month with the endo but i`ve refused to go down that road again.

P.S thank you for welcoming me :) I just stumbled on this site and its great, everyone seems so friendly here. I suffer from anxiety and seldom leave the house so this feels like i`ve finally made contact with the outside world :D:D
