Put your address into the coverage checker, it should give you the direction in degrees.

238 deg. SW of Blackpool Blackrock when I check - http://www.saorview.ie/make-the-switch/coverage-checker/coverage-map/

When I try that checker it says I should be using Kippure, but when I use the MPEG4Ireland site, it says I should be using Three Rock which is much closer?

Closer doesn't necessarily mean better coverage at your location, I think I'd go with RTE's recommendation or just aim your aerial for the best signal s & q as both transmitters use the same frequency.

Isn't Blackpool a hole in the ground? (Near Shops at end of Commons Rd it is).

Depending on EXACT location it could be Mullaghanish or Barracks or Spurhill or Glanmire or even Fermoy if up on hill shielded from Spur Hill and Mullaghanish overlooking shopping centre.

    See http://maps.techtir.com/dtt-cork.htm from RTE Brochure.

The information I posted above was for Blackpool Blackrock in Cork.

The RTÉ coverage checker would be the more accurate but even then they do say "Coverage is indicative only. Local environment may cause variations in computer estimated level".

The mpeg4ireland coverage checker was a great tool before RTÉNL launched their own coverage checker. It doesn't include all sites.

Point your aerial at spurhill .Works everytime in the Blackrock area .

    Blackrock and Blackpool are
    1) different shape.
    2) Opposite sides of Cork

If in Blackrock , then the aerial points North North West, not 238. I read Cush's and thought Blackpool. But Blackrock is Simpler, though parts might get Crosshaven to South East better.

I don't think mpeg4ireland has been updated in a while, nor have I seen him post lately.

Yes, got my Blackrock and Blackpool mixed up. Thanks watty.

The coverage checker indicates Spur Hill is 238 deg. SW of Blackrock (and 206 deg. SW of Blackpool).

    I'm talking purely Geographically.

It's a non-judgemental topological term used by "radio planning" people. High twisty hills on both sides.

It looks fine and has the advantage that the main road from it ends about 1km away from me.

I understand but you are just making it easier to get to you. Forgive me if I thought that you were being sarcastic as you have so much more to offer.
