Uk Air Shows 2012: Help Needed

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I'm a huge fan of aviation, all areas really, but especially prop driven warbirds such as Spits, Me 109's & P-51's.

I went to the Cosford Air Show two years ago and it blew me away and I was planning on going again in 2012 though not necessarily to Cosford, couldl be Biggin Hill, Farnborough or somewhere else.

My question is, are there any clubs here in Ireland that go together that have room for one more? or are there any aviation clubs in the UK or NI that people are aware of that are open to members. Its all well and good going to the show on my own but I would prefer to spend the weekend with like minded folks.

Alternatively, are there people out there in a similar situation who might be interested in hooking up to head across to the UK

Any help or advice would be very gratefully received

I know a few members from here ,myself included go to RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo) which is on in July, However I'm not sure if it would be the show for you as there is usually only the BBMF for the warbird fan.

No clubs or groups that I know of do any trips to shows across the sea...

Thanks, appreciate the response...and I probably overstated the Warbirds thing, I love all Military and to a degree the Civil Aviation side of things as well.

The GR 4 Tornados that I saw at RAF Cosford doing a simulated ground attack totally blew me away.

Anyway, i'd be interested in knowing more about your trip, is it a club you are part of and if so are you open to new members?

    Thanks again

    hi
Duxford would be number one on the list if its piston engined warbird you are looking to see.You can get buy a ticket on entry to any of their airshows that will get you airside, where u can meet the pilots and also access to the museums where you can watch them working on the planes.Their " Flying Legend" or Autumn airshows are probably the best in Europe for Spifires, Mustangs, Bf109's,B-17 you name they have it.

Secondly The Shuttleworth Collection in Old Warden also have a selection of warbirds to. They have a Spitfire, Hurricane and newly accquired P-40 Hawk along with many WW1 original fighters.

Also of interest to note is that both of these groups run airshows on samedays Duxford in the early part of the day and Shuttleworth's in the evening, meaning that both can be taken in on the same day.
Both are within driving distance of each other and are near to Stansted.

    Enjoy
