HP Mini 110 owners

I am a complete dunce when it comes to technology so could someone please tell me if the digital media slot should be open or have some sort of adapter on it?
I got one of these today for my dh and it's just a gap at the side of the netbook, mine seems closed so I am wondering if there is a piece missing.

Allot of machines have a plastic dummy card which is installed to prevent the slot getting dust in it or damaged. Try removing this bit of plastic (sometimes a credit card or similar can help remove it)

Thanks for the reply.
There doesn't seem to be anything in it, I can't see it anyway.
The slot is about 1-1.5 inches wide so I wouldn't fit a card to help remove it.

Could you post a picture of the slot? Some machines have a button next to the slot you push in to relase then push again to release the dummy card

That looks normal, I'm guessing yours is missing the blank card, but I wouldn't worry about it too much, do you have an SD card or something you can put in it to test it works?

No I don't have one, if it's normal enough I won't worry about it then, he probably won't even use it anyway, I was just worried I was missing a piece.
